Former Kira Municipality MP and Patriotic Front for Freedom (PFF) Secretary General Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has defiantly responded to recent remarks and alleged threats linked to Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba, saying he will not be intimidated or lose sleep over arrest threats.
Ssemujju stressed that Muhoozi is a mortal human being like any other citizen, insisting he is neither immune to illness nor above accountability.
“So yes, I can feel pain. I can experience fear like any normal human being. But I will not lose sleep over Muhoozi. Let him come and arrest me. No problem,” Ssemujju said.
He questioned the logic behind fear-driven politics, arguing that no leader is beyond consequences or natural human limitations.
“After arresting me, will he become immortal? Will he become an angel nobody can arrest? Will he never fall sick? Will even malaria become afraid to attack him?” he posed.
Ssemujju further urged Ugandans to reject what he called “excessive fear” of security leaders, emphasizing that public officials are servants of the people.
He noted that Muhoozi, like all state officers, is paid by taxpayers and must remain accountable to them rather than acting in personal interest.
The exchange follows reports that Muhoozi warned Ssemujju and fellow opposition leader Erias Lukwago could be arrested if they attempt to serve him court papers in a lawsuit linked to alleged threats against detained opposition figure Dr. Kizza Besigye.
The case stems from controversial social media posts attributed to Muhoozi, including remarks that critics say suggested Besigye should be hanged. Opposition leaders are now seeking legal action over the statements.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions and reports of alleged abductions of opposition figures, including Erias Lukwago, following Uganda’s contested 2026 political climate.
