Popular Ugandan comedian and media personality Allan Mujuni, better known as Amooti Omubalanguzi, has dismissed reports that he was fired from Beat FM, insisting that his departure from full-time radio work was entirely his own decision.
In recent weeks, social media has been awash with claims that Amooti had been dismissed from the station, a sister outlet of Capital FM Uganda, where he had worked for nearly two decades. Some reports alleged that management had grown frustrated with his frequent absences and eventually terminated his contract.
However, speaking during an interview on local television, Amooti firmly denied the allegations, describing them as baseless rumours spread by social media users seeking attention.
“The reports are not true. People simply want stories that will keep them trending,” Amooti said.

The celebrated entertainer explained that after 18 years on radio, he personally requested to step away from full-time presenting in order to focus on his growing commitments with his comedy outfit, Amarula Family.
According to Amooti, balancing radio work and managing the activities of Amarula Family had become increasingly demanding, prompting him to reduce some of his responsibilities.
“I am the one who asked to leave full-time radio. I had spent many years there and felt it was time to focus on other commitments. Amarula Family requires a lot of my attention, so I decided to relieve myself of some duties,” he explained.
Despite stepping back from daily radio presenting, Amooti clarified that his relationship with the station remains intact. He noted that listeners will continue hearing some of his content on air even though he will no longer be present on a full-time basis.
His remarks put to rest speculation surrounding his exit and confirm that the move was a personal career decision rather than a dismissal by management.
