A fresh legal battle is brewing between former Miss Rwanda 2016 Jolly Mutesi and Ugandan music star Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, after the beauty queen moved to challenge allegations that she scammed the singer.
Mutesi has instructed her lawyers at Mbidde & Co. Advocates to take action against Bebe Cool over what she describes as defamatory statements made publicly against her. In a legal notice dated June 17, 2026, she demands that the musician immediately stop making the allegations, retract them, and issue a public apology within 48 hours or face legal proceedings.

The dispute stems from claims made by Bebe Cool, who recently alleged that Mutesi conned him last year by presenting herself as someone with connections to Rwanda and Arsenal Football Club. According to the singer, the alleged interactions led him to believe she could facilitate opportunities linked to the country and the English football giant.
However, Mutesi has strongly denied the accusations, insisting she has never had any dealings with Bebe Cool. She argues that he may have been deceived by impersonators who used her identity without her knowledge.
To support her position, Mutesi pointed to a public warning she issued in 2024 alerting followers about fake social media accounts and individuals allegedly using her name, photos, and phone number to scam unsuspecting victims.

Her legal team maintains that Bebe Cool’s allegations are false, unsupported by evidence, and have caused significant damage to her reputation. The controversy has since sparked heated debate online, with many Rwandans rallying behind Mutesi while others discuss the growing risks of celebrity impersonation scams in the digital age.
With the 48-hour deadline now in place, attention is turning to whether Bebe Cool will retract his statements or allow the matter to proceed to court
