Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Jacob Oboth-Oboth has cautioned Ugandans against allowing the pursuit of wealth to compromise their values, saying money should never be a reason for wrongdoing.
Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony for newly appointed State Minister Desire Muhooza at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on Monday, June 8, 2026, Oboth-Oboth stressed the importance of financial discipline and responsible wealth management.
“I love money, but money can’t make me do evil. Too much money without the capacity to manage it will make you buy things you cannot even use,” he said.

The Speaker noted that while wealth is important, it must be accompanied by wisdom and self-control. He warned that a lack of financial discipline often leads to wasteful spending and poor decision-making.
The event was held in honor of Minister Desire Muhooza, the Kiboga District Woman MP and daughter of Gen. Salim Saleh.
