UGX 50 Million Up for Grabs as MTN and FUFA Hand Ugandans a Chance to Design the Next Cranes Jersey

MTN Uganda, in partnership with FUFA, has launched the “Free Your Fayaaa – Tulage Waaka” campaign, a nationwide competition inviting football fans, designers, students, and creatives to submit ideas for the national team’s next jersey.

The initiative aims to give ordinary Ugandans a direct role in shaping one of the country’s most recognizable symbols ahead of the Uganda Cranes’ upcoming continental assignments.

Launching the campaign, MTN Uganda’s Manager for Sponsorships and Events, John Paul Okwi, said the project is about turning supporters into creators and giving them an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Ugandan football.

“Every Ugandan has a fire within them. Through this campaign, we are inviting people to channel that creativity into something that will unite the nation. This is more than a jersey design challenge; it is a chance to create a symbol that reflects who we are as a people,” Okwi said.

FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson encouraged Ugandans to seize the opportunity, reminding them that every great achievement begins with an idea.

FUFA First Vice President Justus Mugisha described the campaign as a unique chance for fans to take ownership of the jersey they proudly wear and support.

“The Uganda Cranes jersey carries the hopes, pride, and passion of millions of Ugandans. Through this initiative, every fan has a chance to contribute to the next chapter of our national team’s identity,” he said.

The competition is open to all Ugandans, whether professional designers or football enthusiasts with creative ideas. Participants can submit entries individually or as teams through mtnmore.com.

Submissions will open on June 22 and close on July 9, 2026.

After the submission period, judges will select the top seven designs. The finalists will then attend a three-day boot camp from July 14 to 16, where they will work with experienced creatives to refine their concepts before the winning jersey is chosen.

The winning design will become the next official Uganda Cranes jersey, while participants will compete for a prize pool worth more than UGX 50 million.

MTN Uganda and FUFA have urged football fans across the country to take part in the competition and help create a jersey designed by Ugandans, for Uganda.
