Ugandans Celebrate as Andrew Kabuura Joins SuperSport’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Coverage Team

Ugandan sports journalist Andrew Kabuura is earning widespread praise after taking up a prominent role on SuperSport’s coverage team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kabuura, one of Uganda’s most recognizable sports broadcasters, is anchoring the tournament coverage from South Africa alongside football stars and pundits including John Terry, Bacary Sagna, and Alex Iwobi.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first-ever 48-team edition, is being hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, attracting a global audience.

Kabuura brings more than 15 years of experience covering major international sporting events, including FIFA World Cups, Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, and UEFA Champions League matches.

His analysis during the tournament has already attracted attention, with viewers praising his breakdown of Germany’s emphatic 7-1 victory over Curaçao.

Back home, Ugandans have expressed pride in seeing one of their own on the global stage. Government officials, media personalities, and football fans have shared screenshots and clips of Kabuura’s broadcasts, describing him as Uganda’s closest connection to the action at the World Cup.

Many supporters have also applauded the broadcaster for maintaining his authentic style and occasionally bringing a touch of Ugandan flavor to international sports coverage.
