“I Was a Legit Hustler, Not a Criminal” – Justine Nameere Hits Back at Critics Ahead of Swearing-In

State Minister for Local Government and Masaka City Woman MP,  Hon. Justine Nameere has defended her past against criticism circulating online, insisting that while she faced civil debts, she has never been convicted of any criminal offense.

Speaking ahead of her swearing-in as State Minister for Local Government, Nameere described herself as a “legit hustler” who overcame personal challenges through hard work and determination.

Responding to critics questioning her background, she said her past struggles are well known and were resolved long ago. She urged those attacking her to focus on improving their own lives rather than dwelling on her history.

Nameere also pointed to her record in public service, highlighting her role as Senior Presidential Advisor in 2021, where she says she actively fought land grabbing and helped protect vulnerable citizens from illegal evictions.

She maintained that her leadership should be judged by her contributions to the country rather than personal setbacks she has already overcome.

Nameere’s appointment to President Yoweri Museveni’s May 2026 Cabinet has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Supporters have praised her resilience and rise through adversity, while critics have revisited controversies surrounding her election and a previous army arrest linked to allegations of political interference.

Despite the criticism, Nameere remains unapologetic, saying her journey is a testament to perseverance, hard work, and a commitment to public service.
