Medard Sseggona to Gen Muhoozi: “Name One Army Commander Who Threatens Lives Like You Do”

Former Busiro East Member of Parliament and prominent lawyer, Hon. Medard Lubega Sseggona, has launched a sharp attack on Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, accusing him of engaging in public threats and conduct unbecoming of a senior military officer.

Sseggona criticized Muhoozi’s repeated remarks directed at political opponents, arguing that his behavior contrasts with what is expected of a commander trained at elite military institutions funded by Ugandan taxpayers.

Addressing Gen. Muhoozi, Sseggona questioned his public conduct while referencing his military training in South Africa, Egypt, and the United Kingdom’s Sandhurst Military Academy.

“Muhoozi Kainerugaba, look at your peers—the people you trained with in those military academies using taxpayers’ money. Look at how they conduct themselves. Can you point to even one of them who behaves the way you do? One who publicly threatens others with breaking their limbs and destroying their lives?”.

He further accused the General of using his position to intimidate others rather than uphold discipline and protection.

“Can you show us one commander who elevates himself by degrading fellow citizens? We paid for your education in South Africa, Egypt, and at Sandhurst. That training was intended to produce a leader who protects the people, not one who turns against them and harms them,” Sseggona stated.

Sseggona’s remarks come amid increasing controversy surrounding Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni.

In recent months, Muhoozi has faced public criticism over his social media statements targeting opposition figures, as well as allegations linked to the reported detention of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
