President Yoweri Museveni hosted Andile Ramaphosa, businessman and son of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, at Nakasero State Lodge on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, for high-level discussions on investment opportunities in Uganda’s livestock and agriculture sectors.
During the meeting, Andile Ramaphosa and his delegation presented proposals aimed at strengthening cooperation between Uganda and South Africa. Among the key proposals was a partnership with the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC) to regulate the breeding, harvesting, and export of Ankole cattle genetics to countries across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
The delegation also proposed the establishment of a Build-Operate-Transfer laboratory at Namunkekera Farm to help combat counterfeit agricultural inputs, a challenge that continues to affect productivity and farmer incomes across the region.

President Museveni welcomed the investment proposals and assured the delegation that the Ugandan government would review them carefully. He noted that the initiatives align with Uganda’s broader socio-economic transformation agenda and could further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions build on a long-standing relationship between the two nations, including previous investments and purchases of Uganda’s renowned Ankole cattle by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
