Football is the most followed sport in Uganda. A big percentage of Ugandans follow and passionately support Foreign Football Clubs with the English Premier League clubs taking the Lion’s share followed by La Liga clubs.
Every match day, especially weekends, football halls, bars, clubs are buzzing with Uganda supporters cheering teams of their choice or hate watching rival clubs.

Most of the supporters support Premier League clubs and have a La Liga club as the second favourite. Very few Ugandan supporters have strictly a La Liga clubs as their only club.
Here is the list of 10 most supported Foreign Football Clubs in Uganda.
10. Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich has got a sizeable number of supporters in Uganda. Most of the supporters started during the reign of Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski when Bayern Munich was its peak.
9. Inter Miami C.F. You must be wondering how a Major League Soccer club managed to command support and following in Uganda. But before I explain, you might have already guessed the reason why. Lionel Messi carries his supporters along.
In a day you notice a dozen of Ugandans putting on Jerseys of Inter Miami and during the 2025 MLS Season, there were several Ugandans who were interested in the league especially during the playoffs. However, the support seems plastic and will dwindle as soon as Messi leaves the Florida based MLS Franchise.
8. Tottenham Hotspur. During early 2000s, it was easier to spot a Black Panther in Kenya than see a Tottenham supporter in Uganda. But with the emerging Manchester City and Tottenham as two new members of premier league big clubs in the second decade of the 21st century, supporters of Tottenham started to sprout.
The era of Mauricio Pochettino alongside Son, Kane, Dele Ali, Eriksen and other players that saw Tottenham cement their position among the Big Six, finish as league cup finalists twice, finish second in the league and becoming UEFA Champions League finalists increased the number of supporters in the country. As of 2026, there are two official registered fan groups in the country and several supporters’ activities happening. God is great, they finally saw glory with their own eyes winning 2024/2025 UEFA Europa League.

7. Manchester City. Manchester City fan base started forming in 2009 after the takeover of the club by Sheikh Mansour. The club started investing in the squad heavily and by 2011, the club was competing for trophies in the English Premier League winning the 2011/2012 Premier League trophy. Ever since then, Man City has been giving Ugandans a reason to support them.
The fan base is mainly composed of young people under 25 years who started supporting Football in the last 10 years when Manchester City was dominating England. Others are runaway supporters who were formerly supporting either Arsenal or Manchester United.
6. Liverpool FC. Liverpool was one of the first clubs to have supporters in Uganda, but with the Premier League era, the club backslid and was no longer competing for league during the boom of foreign football in Uganda between 2000- 2010.
Coming back to Glory during the era of Jurgen Klopp, winning Champions League and Premier League, the old fans of Liverpool resurfaced and new fans also sprouted. The support for Liverpool in Uganda is strongly manifested.

5. Real Madrid. There are hundreds of thousands of Real Madrid supporters in Uganda. The club is very popular in the country given their success in the UEFA Champions League.
The major challenge is that most supporters of Real Madrid have another English Premier League club they support with majority of them being Manchester United supporters.
4. Barcelona. Gaucho Ronaldinho made Barcelona so popular in Uganda which made a significant section of Ugandans to support and follow F.C. Barcelona. The transfer of Thierry Henry from Arsenal brought alongside him very many Arsenal supporters in Uganda, who were at the moment the largest football fan group in Uganda.
With the rise of Lionel Messi, the famous midfield of Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez and Iniesta (Prime Barcelona) then coming of Neymar and Suarez, Barcelona’s popularity in Uganda increased tremendously. Yamal now just has to keep them going and entertained.

3. Chelsea Football Club. Popularity of Chelsea in Uganda was brought by the purchase of the club by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich who thereafter invested heavily in the club squad to ensure success. Chelsea dominated the premier league and won several trophies starting with the 2005/2006 season.

Winning 5 Premier League trophies and two Champions League trophies alongside several domestic and international cups, being World Champions in 2025 after beating PSG on FIFA Club World Cup finals, Chelsea is surely the most successful football club in London and the third most supported football club in Uganda.
2. Arsenal Football Club. Being one of the two most dominant clubs in the Premier League in the early 2000s, finishing the season unbeaten in the Premier League, with world class of players known as The Invincibles, Arsenal gained massive support in Uganda and was the most supported club in the country.

The club has maintained huge fan base in the country and following the clubs return to competing for the league under Mikel Arteta the number of new supporters is increasing every single day. Most of their fans activities center around get together parties, prayers, friendly matches and charity work.

1 .Manchester United F.C. It is safe to say that Manchester United are the most successful football club in England. With 68 official competitive trophies, there is a reason for the huge support of Manchester United in Uganda. The club won 13 of the first 21 Premier League seasons WHOAH!

Manchester United have the biggest number of supporters in Uganda right now. Despite club having a bad run of several successive seasons. Manchester United fans in Uganda keep loyal and increasing. Who knows? They might see Glory days once again!
