Sheebah Karungi is a Ugandan recording artist, performer and businesswoman one of the most successful musicians in the country. She is the vice president of Uganda Musicians Federation.

Sheebah Karungi has established herself as a music icon. She has a loyal and active fanbase.

8. Simon Kaggwa Njala.

Simon Kaggwa Njala is a Ugandan Journalist and TV personality working with Next Media’s NBS Television.

I don’t know if there is any Ugandan Journalist that has ever been popular on social media like Simon Kaggwa Njala. He might have done a lot of programs, hosted a lot of guests, interviewed a lot of people, but one interview stood out of the rest – why are you geh?

His interview with Pepe Julius Onziema went viral online not only in Africa but all over the world. Andrew Tate even hosted him on his podcast. His interviews with various politicians went viral all over Africa characterised by his tough set of questions, emphasis and rigidity that upset guests and they end up walking away.

Sheilah Gashumba is a Ugandan social media personality, TV hostess and events hostess. She became popular at a young age while hosting a kids TV program and she has managed to maintain her fame in adulthood.

She has hosted famous events both in Uganda and abroad, has worked with big TVs in the country.

With approximately 1M followers on Instagram, 1.2M on X (Formerly Twitter), She is the true meaning of a celebrity.

6. Winnie Byanyima

Engineer Winnie Byanyima is a Ugandan aeronautical engineer, diplomat, global policy maker, former politician and human rights activist. She is also a wife to a famous opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye who is currently in prison on charges of treason.

Former director of the Gender Team in the Bureau for Development Policy at UNDP, Winnie Byanyima was appointed the director of Oxfarm International in 2013. She is currently working as the director of UNAIDS. Her influence and popularity go beyond Uganda and is one of the most respected people in Uganda.

5. Joshua Cheptegei.

Joshua Cheptegei is athlete and Olympic medallist. He is the current world record holder for the 5000 metres and the 10,000 metres.

He has won for Uganda two gold medals and one silver medal in Olympics competitions, 3 World Championships medals and many others. He has put Uganda on the athletic map.

4. Jose Chameleone

Born Joseph Mayanja, Jose Chameleone is a Uganda legendary musician. He has dominated the music industry for close to three decades.

Singing in Luganda and Swahili, Chameleone was dominating East African airwaves between 2000-2010. He is one of the best musicians Uganda has ever produced and one of the most popular people in Uganda.

3. Eddy Kenzo

Born Edrissa Musuuza, Eddy Kenzo is a Ugandan recording artist and performer. The musicians has released several songs that trended not only in Africa but also in the world.

He has won various continental and global awards including the famous BET Award. He also became the first Ugandan musician to be nominated in Grammy awards not only once but twice.

Eddy Kenzo has made collaborations with various musicians worldwide and he has received praise from international celebrities like Chris Brown who even invited him to appear in his music video, Akon and others.

Eddy Kenzo songs on YouTube have been viewed 831 million times. With 2.38m followers on Facebook, 2.8 million subscribers on YouTube, 2 million followers on Instagram and 0.87m followers on Twitter Eddy Kenzo is the most followed Ugandan artist on social media.

2. Bobi Wine

Born Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Bobi Wine is a Uganda artist and politician. Raised from the ghetto, Bobi Wine became an icon of all Ghetto children. He later joined politics and is currently the leading opposition politician in the country.

Bobi Wine’s rise to fame started in music. His various Edutainment songs and songs of activism which made him popular among the youth who are the majority age group of Uganda. He joined Politics in 2016 on the side of opposition by then led by Dr Kizza Besigye. In 2017, he contested for the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament in byelections and won massively.

His role in parliament fighting against attempt to remove age limit to make the incumbent president Yoweri Museveni rule for life made Bobi Wine popular in political circles. 1. Yoweri Museveni

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa is a Ugandan Politician who has been a president of Uganda since 1986. Born in 1944, Museveni assumed presidency after a 5-year bush war against the government of President Apollo Milton Obote.

His presidency has received mixed reviews. Some describe him as someone who revived county’s economy and ensured security in the country. However, others have criticized him for repression on opposition and human rights abuses that go unbated.

Liked, adored, hated or detested the fact that Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is the most popular Ugandan cannot be denied.

Groomed as the successor to his aging father, he is becoming more popular and influential in the country. Other people worthy mention are Spice Diana and Hon. Anita Annet Among.
