“Bullies Are Cowards!” – Bobi Wine Hits Back at Muhoozi Over Threats Against Opposition Leaders

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and former presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has fired back at Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, accusing him of using intimidation tactics against political opponents.

In a strongly-worded social media post, Bobi Wine declared that “bullies are cowards” who often crumble when confronted, in what many viewed as a direct response to Muhoozi’s latest remarks targeting opposition figures.

The opposition leader shared a screenshot of a post by Muhoozi in which the army chief warned that politicians Ibrahim Semujju Nganda and Joel Ssenyonyi “will follow very soon” after the detention of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. The statement sparked concern among opposition supporters, who interpreted it as a threat of further arrests.

Bobi Wine’s response came just hours after Muhoozi’s comments, adding fuel to the growing public feud between the two. In recent weeks, the army chief has repeatedly criticized the NUP leader, accusing him of abandoning his supporters following the disputed January 2026 presidential election while remaining outside the country.

By sharing the message, Bobi Wine appeared to rally his supporters against what he described as increasing political persecution and intimidation of opposition voices.

The latest exchange has intensified debate across social media, with supporters and critics weighing in on the escalating confrontation between Uganda’s opposition movement and the country’s security establishment.

As tensions continue to rise, many observers say the public war of words highlights the increasingly charged political environment and growing concerns about the state of democratic freedoms in Uganda.
